‘AR’TEMIS to be Delivered to our Customer in August
By Brigham Cook
ARTEMIS – Pinnacle’s Augmented Reality Technical Manual Integration System was first introduced last fall internally and later to potential customers at the I/ITSEC trade show. You may recall reading about this system in the December newsletter, but in summary the system will be used by equipment maintainers to display the content of a relevant technical manual outside of the user’s normal sight allowing a full view of the equipment being maintained.
ARTEMIS has come a long way from an innovative idea to a customer funded development effort. The ARTEMIS team – Brigham Cook, Andy Hand and Jason Terry on the development side and Mike Hawkins as the illustrator – just successfully completed our first hands-on validation using Google Glass for the Ground Mobility Vehicle 1.1 (GMV 1.1) which is part of the Family of Special Operations Vehicles (FOSOV). We are ahead of schedule for both programming and data conversion, and believe we will wow the customer at our hands-on verification early next month! We have also picked up another brand of glasses, made by Vuzix, and will be delivering two different styles at final delivery in late August to provide the customer a choice of hardware.
